This feed works fine . . . but Blizz feed still buggy.
I feel like the grunts in Warcraft III working my ass off.

This is a standard iFrame with an RSS feed. It seems a little buggy. I hope it displays properly for you.

I added some more finishing touches to the opening banner. Since we will be using this “flat” banner until all the other systems are coded, I figured it should look impressive so we could start recruitment soon.

As is my history with other sites, I will build an active graphics banner in Java or Flash. Just imagine our web banner is like a drive-in movie screen. The camera view is of a beautiful Northrend panorama with active particles of snow blowing around while a storyboard slide show with sub titles tells you a short story about our guild.

For now, I return my focus to the back end systems feed, plugins and modules until they are up and running. Until then, this banner will have to do . . .

Note to self: Put some ice on the sub header’s art and a little frost on the menu nav to tie it all together.

Here is a graphical HTML beta to give you an idea of how the site will look and “feel”. No clip art. It was all heavily worked over in photoshop. Even the stock WoW art in the trim was given blue filters to give a consitant feel. 

There are some vent, realm, DKP and character test widgets on this page. Please take a look around and tell me what you think.

The conversion from Windows to Linux servers finally finished so I loaded up the SQL and this draft of the web. Often guild webs are a simple brag sheet with fraps of boss kills to entice recruits or their forum based site turns into a shout-box. I believe a good guild web site serves as a resource and communications management tool for guild officers, members and visitors from our realm and the gaming community in general. To achieve this goal, we will need Content Management Systems(CMS) and Sequential Query Language (SQL) databases in our platform. 

With an active CMS and SQL based platform comes unique user identification, cascading user permissions and live feed content. Php has caught up with many ASP/Pearl applications and sits nicely on a SQL. There are many flavors of user friendly CMS interfaces for php webs. Collectively I they should create a quality web environment that will allow managers and users scaled access to control and post web site or forum content. This means more content contribution from our users.

The WoW Armory allows query so you can fish a variety of data from their charector-sheet.xml. DKPsigs.com uses this as a free service to gernerate their forum sig images as seen below.


Almost anything can be "fetched" and "posted". While researching for data mining sources to feed our Guild Roster, I came across these character info webs. You can add these to your forum sig by replacing "Kalman" with your name. The same is true for the Sargeras server  name.  If you use the 'H' find and replace command while viewing the code, it only takes a second.

Wow...  there sure are a lot of vent display scripts.  I chose to pass on the Flash & <img> tag scripts.  I am using an iFrame with good old fashioned HTML coding feed from a Nanospy replay.  iFrames have been around since just before they invented dirt! Everyone should be able to see this display:

I haven't loaded this onto a page yet but I will once the main navsys is complete. Until then, here is a preview of the client side DKP management tool. Server side info is below.
